How the conversion works
A year is taken as twelve months, fifty-two weeks or three hundred and sixty-five days, because that is how a price is read off a bill: “$10 a week” means fifty-two payments. Every figure is worked out in whole cents, so $9.99 twelve times is $119.88 exactly.
